Aaron Lennon, Robbie Keane, Jermaine Jenas and Ledley King all missed chances to break the deadlock at Vicarage Road.
Lennon played on the left up until Hossam Ghaly who started on the right was replaced.
The home side also had their fair share of opportunities to score, but a goalless encounter will be how this game will be remembered.
Martin Jol: "Watford put us on the back foot in the first 15 minutes, they started very aggressively and had three or four corner kicks straight from the kick-off."
"Every time we played the ball on the floor we created something but we couldn't take full control and that was because of them.
"The second half was better and they didn't create many chances. We had chances with Aaron Lennon and Robbie Keane, I think we had eight or nine chances overall but I can't say we deserved to win.
"We could have nicked it but they could have won it as well. I could see why they've only lost once at home, they were pretty tough to play against."
Michael Dawson: "We were disappointed we didn't win because we had some good chances but, on the other hand, early in the game Watford created a couple of good openings.
"We were not happy with just a point, but it was another clean sheet. That was pleasing and as a defender and back five unit it is what we wanted."
"It was difficult and we knew afterwards we'd been in a game. They will have been disappointed with the disallowed goal."
"Maybe we got sucked into the way Watford played a little bit."
