Spurs just about dominated this game throughout the ninety minutes.

The home side went in front courtesy of Dimitar Berbatov in the 15th minute, then almost doubled the lead in the next move but for a fine save to deny Jermain Defoe.

Paul Robinson needed to be alert in goal before he created Tottenham's second of the night in the 38th minute with a precise pass to Defoe who finished the quick move with aplomb.

Four minutes into the second half Spurs attacked in numbers and were rewarded with a third goal of the evening, as Defoe was left with the simple task of tucking the ball away and putting the contest out of the reach of the visitors.

Berbatov and Defoe were buzzing up front against lackadaisical opponents.

At 3-0 up Martin Jol opted for changes with Ledley King understood to be carrying a hip injury replaced, as too was Tom Huddlestone who had another impressive performance in midfield.

Once the balance of the team was interrupted Dinamo were able to muster a consolation goal in added time at the end.

Martin Jol: "I think we deserved a bit of credit for making Dinamo Bucharest look average."

"We saw five or six of their matches and they started them all with a furious tempo but we didn't want that in our stadium. We said before the game that we wanted a high tempo, to pressurise them and we did it well and played some entertaining football.

"In the first half with a slightly different team - Hossam Ghaly and Benoit Assou-Ekotto both came back, Aaron Lennon played on the left – we looked to be getting better and better."

Hossam Ghaly: "I had missed a lot of games so I was happy with the result and my performance. I tried again to prove myself and show everybody I can do something for the team."

"I think we did well. We managed the game and everybody played to their best - Dinamo couldn't do anything against us. We controlled the midfield and we had two top strikers both with technical ability who held the ball and used it well."
