Tottenham Hotspur 3 Club Brugge 1

The first half was lively at times as both teams approached the game in an entertaining manner.

After the break it was more or less one way traffic as Spurs made sure the Belgians went home with nothing, frequently there were moments of imagination in the football of the home side.

Jermaine Jenas ran all over the pitch all night, Aaron Lennon's pace was typically a threat, and Dimitar Berbatov and Keane began to click together.

Martin Jol: "Their goal was disappointing and we didn't play particularly well in the first half, although we had chances for Robbie, Ghaly and JJ. But it was not easy for them to find the forward players and there wasn't the link-up between the midfield and forwards.

"The second half was probably the best this season. We had flank play, the build-up was good, we kept possession, moved the ball around and we created chances.

"We could have scored five or six goals but that wasn't easy because Club Brugge dropped off deep.

"There were some very good performances out there, Lennon was a delight to watch and if Berbatov was good against Besiktas, he was better this time."

Robbie Keane: "The UEFA Cup has been great and it was a fine win for us."

"We played some good football and ended up going behind before we showed the attitude and character to come back and win."

"It was obviously nice to score. It was an excellent ball from Dimitar and the second I saw him I knew exactly what he was going to do as two weeks ago I did the exact same for him against Besiktas."

"Luckily enough for me it went in and then we got the third goal. We settled down and played some really good football."

Dimitar Berbatov: "Tonight was a brilliant night for us, we showed a great spirit after going a goal down and we didn't give up and played like a team.

"Everyone gave 100 per cent and we made it 1-1, 2-1 and then 3-1 to walk away as winners."

"I saw him (Robbie Keane) and he was alone and I just passed the ball."

Jermaine Jenas: "The lads showed some great character and spirit when we went behind - and the fans got right behind us. The Club Brugge fans did a lot of singing, but our fans were a lot louder for us and we were grateful for it."

"They dropped off early on and caught us on the counter a few times, but we adjusted to that, dominated in the second half and were always going to get the win."

"We needed that after the Watford game, which we all felt was a little bit dull."
