Ledley King was the one notable absentee for the home team along with Aaron Lennon who missed his fifth game in a row.
Calum Davenport started alongside Michael Dawson who had himself recovered from a knock. Anthony Gardner was named among the substitutes in place of Benoit Assou-Ekotto.
Mido recovered from a slight groin strain and went straight into Martin Jol's starting line-up, whilst Dimitar Berbatov who was reported to have been feeling ill during the week dropped to the bench.
The game got off to a lively start with Jermain Defoe the greatest threat with dashing runs behind the Liverpool back four.
The game went scrappy as both teams tried hard to get a foothold. Liverpool's goal on the stroke of half time was a poor one to concede.
Berbatov made an instant impression when introduced early in the second half, a change that lifted the home supporters.
Liverpool were under the cosh from there on but managed to hold on when Spurs deserved a point at the very least.
Martin Jol: "In the second half, the worse the weather got, the better we played. I thought we could have scored two or three goals and we played better than them. Dimitar Berbatov came on and made a difference again and, while we had the likes of Jermaine Jenas, Robbie Keane and Aaron Lennon out, they had nearly everyone available to them.
"I thought we deserved a point out of it but we couldn't create a goal in the first half. If we had kept a clean sheet people might have said we deserved to win, but two minutes before half-time we gave away a cheap goal and they punished us. They only had one chance before that.
"Conceding a goal just before the break against a team like Liverpool, that knows how to defend and hit you on the break was deadly.
"They only had one chance in the second half and especially after the substitutions, we did better and better. We created enough to get something out of the game."
"I felt we were going in the right direction, but it was disappointing to see our first half performance."
"Ledley had very slight bone bruising on his left foot. We were acting sensibly in giving him rest so that he can heal quickly from this minor injury.
"It was better that we took the precaution rather than having the possibility of a fracture happening and him being out for over two months."
"Dimitar Berbatov was ill and had nearly a 40 degrees temperature, Mido couldn't play yesterday (Friday) but I said to him he would have to play and he's a good lad, he did a final test before the game and was 80, 90 per cent fit."
"I spoke to Berbatov this morning (Saturday) and asked if he felt better and could sit on the bench, he said yes and maybe he could play for 10 minutes but in the end it was a bit more and I felt he did unbelievably well, on Friday he was in bed with a fever."
Chris Hughton: "I didn't think it was a vintage performance from them, but they had a grit and determination about them to secure a win."
