Tottenham Hotspur's season went from strength to strength as they crushed Oldham Athletic with five second-half goals at Boundary Park.
Spurs are unbeaten in the Premiership after conceding only twice in their first six games and they showed a ruthless streak to cruise into the Carling Cup thirrd round.
League One side Oldham made the favourites work hard before outstanding striker Frederic Kanoute broke the deadlock on 37 minutes.
And once Tottenham scored again through Robbie Keane they had the confidence and quality to take the Latics to the cleaners.
The home side defended well until Kanoute darted in at the near post to head home Keane's left-wing corner from only six yards.
Chris Killen tested the Spurs keeper before half-time but it was Keane who pounced on the second mistake at the back after 64 minutes, easily finding the net when defender Mark Arber and goalkeeper Craig Mawson failed to cut out the danger.
The thirrd goal was a quick breakaway which England star Jermain Defoe, who had only just gone on as a sub, finished off with a smooth finish from 12 yards into the bottom corner.
Spurs went goal crazy in the closing minutes, starting when Goran Bunjevcevic volleyed in a corner from ten yards after it eluded the keeper by coming off an Oldham defender.
Centre-back Anthony Gardner made it five when he slammed a tremendous 30-yard drive into the bottom corner to give the hapless Mawson no chance.
Kanoute hit Oldham for six in stoppage time when he fired an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net from ten yards.
