Diomansy Kamara scored a sensational overhead kick right at the death to salvage a draw for Fulham and pile more pressure on Tottenham's under-fire boss Martin Jol.
Fulham looked to be heading for a defeat until their £6million summer signing popped up with just a minute left on the clock to show he has all the credentials to be a major star in the top-flight this season.
Jol must have thought his job was safe after seeing his side storm into a 3-1 lead, but they failed to hold on and with just one win from their opening five games, the Dutch coach will be sweating over his long-term future with the club.
Tottenham got off to a dream start when Younes Kaboul fired his side into the lead on ten minutes.
Antti Niemi failed to deal with a corner from Jermaine Jenas and then made an even bigger mess of things just thirty seconds later.
The Fulham keeper fumbled an in-swinging corner from Gareth Bale and pushed the ball straight into the path of Kaboul who made no mistake striking the ball into an empty net.
Tottenham should have added a second on 16 minutes when Dimitar Berbatov broke the offside trap and crossed in for Tom Huddlestone, who fired a volley just over the bar.
It was turning into a day of goalkeeping blunders and Paul Robinson will be thanking his lucky stars that Steven Davis failed to find the target on 19 minutes.
The England number one failed to hold on to a cross from Hameur Bouazza and the rebound fell to Davis, but with the goal at his mercy he fired his shot over the bar.
And Fulham were made to pay when Berbatov added a second for the visitors on 28 minutes.
Robbie Keane played a high ball over the top of the Fulham defence. Berbatov outpaced Dejan Stefanovic and smashed the ball past the stranded Niemi.
Despite Fulham's woeful defending and Tottenham's dominance in the first half, the home side got themselves back into the game on 42 minutes.
Simon Davies corner picked out Clint Dempsey, who rose the highest to flash a close-range header into the roof of the net.
Niemi made up for his earlier blunder when he made a superb one-handed save to deny Jenas' shot from the edge of the box on 54 minutes.
And just 60 seconds later Steed Malbranque blew a golden chance to score against his former club, when he saw his shot cannon back off the post.
But Tottenham looked to have secured all three points when Bale scored a third on the hour mark.
Keane played a superb ball into the path of the Welsh winger who burst into the penalty box and slid the ball past Niemi.
But Fulham refused to give up and pulled a goal back on 77 minutes when Alexei Smertin saw his shot deflect off Ricardo Rocha and over Robinson into the back of the net.
And the unthinkable happened when Kamara grabbed a late equaliser for Fulham on 89 minutes.
Chris Baird's long throw-in was flicked on by Kaboul and Kamara produced a sensational overhead kick which flew past Robinson.
