The result was never in question once Charlie Daniels tucked his first of three goals away three minutes in. Daniels who set up another three was a key influence along with Jamie O'Hara in the first half.
Lee Barnard stole the show in the second with a hat-trick. O'Hara and Andy Barcham (two goals each) completed the rout.
Development coach Clive Allen: "We started in the right manner from the minute we stepped into the changing room. We spoke about last week at Dover (2-0 defeat). This win and performance was the perfect way to bounce back. The attitude was first class, the lads have worked hard in the last few days because I've not been easy on them and I wanted a performance. That's exactly what we got. The most pleasing thing was the quality of the play, the way we attacked the game, the chances we created and the way we took the goals. At half-time it was a case of keeping it going and the biggest challenge I laid down was not to concede a goal and we did that from front to back. It didn't matter who we were playing, in terms of confidence and belief in what we're trying to achieve, that was a first-class performance."
