Terry Dixon headed in the opening goal latching on to a fine cross from Jacques Maghoma after 12 minutes, then wowed the crowd with a well executed second goal quarter of an hour later.
Despite little sign of the visitor's sitting on their advantage in the second half, Boreham Wood did build up some hope of their own after Leigh Mills was caught out at the back and goalkeeper David Button found himself over committed.
But Jacques Maghoma went on to extend Tottenham's lead with a bullet shot that rounded off an impressive move.
Clive Allen: "It was a good performance and we created opportunities, but there was some disappointment with our play in the final third, the area where we need precision and quality, we were a little bit rusty with our finishing. We let ourselves down on a number of occasions and, if we had shown that precision, we could have run up a nice score and won the game more comfortably.
"Some of the build-up play, movement and confidence of the team in our approach play was very good. It was all about fitness at this stage and again they looked stronger and fitter. They worked very well and recovered very well. The conditions over the last couple of days have been very hot and we have made sure they knew exactly what they needed to do in terms of fluids and rest. I'm pleased they have taken that on board and I think it was reflected in the way most of them put in a good 90 minutes work."
