McCarthy has admitted that the former Wolves striker, who spent the last few months of last season on loan at Celtic, would cost far too much for the Midlands club if he were to be made available for transfer this summer.
"We've just been talking about the fantasy league teams and I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want Robbie in their team," McCarthy told Sky Sports News..
"I wouldn't be any different but it ain't going to happen.
"He went up to Celtic just to get games and my impression is, from reading what he's said, he wants to play at Tottenham.
"If that's not going to be then he'll go somewhere else."
