Reports suggest Villas-Boas' job as Spurs manager is coming under increasing pressure after a poor run of results - the latest of which came on Sunday when they lost 6-0 at Manchester City.
One bookmaker announced on Tuesday that it had received a flurry of bets on the Portuguese becoming the next Barclays Premier League manager to be sacked. The north London club have refused to comment on the matter.
Press Association Sport understands the former Chelsea manager remains in his position, though, and on Wednesday morning he boarded a plane with the Spurs squad to Norway for their Europa League game against Tromso.
Villas-Boas, who took charge of Tottenham in summer 2012, is expected to address the reports about his future at a press conference in the northern Norwegian city on Wednesday afternoon.
Spurs have already qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa League, but the club's league form is a worry for fans, who yearn for Champions League football.
The 6-0 reverse at the Etihad Stadium left Spurs ninth in the table, and their scoring record is a big source of concern.
The game in Tromso is expected to go ahead despite heavy snowfall in the city.
The pitch at the Alfheim Stadium was covered in snow on Tuesday, but there is under-soil heating and both clubs are confident there will be no postponement.
Former Tottenham midfielder David Ginola, meanwhile, has revealed his plans to manage Spurs in the future.
"I would love to manage Spurs one day," the 46-year-old Frenchman told TalkSPORT.
"I will have my UEFA A licence in the next eight months. If you become a manager one day the obvious thing is to manage a club you like, you know and you love."
