Van der Vaart loving life at Tottenham

The 27-year-old has been a revelation since his £8million move from Real Madrid in the summer, bagging 11 goals in all competitions for Spurs, and would be happy to remain at White Hart Lane beyond his four-year contract.

He said in The Sun: "I love it here. I love the players and I love the down-to-earth attitude at the club. If I have the opportunity, I would stay here for the rest of my career."

As for more short-term goals, Van der Vaart is relishing the prospect of Sunday's visit of Barclays Premier League leaders Manchester United.

"Tottenham-United is the biggest game of the Premier League this season," he said.

"Not only for us at Spurs, but for all the Premier League because United are unbeaten.

"If we beat them, it opens up the league for everyone else who is chasing the title. And that includes us - we've got the squad to win the league."
