Tottenham Reluctant to Meet AC Milan's Demands Over Krzysztof Pi?tek

Tottenham Hotspur are understood to be reluctant to meet AC Milan's demands over striker Krzysztof Piątek.

Piątek arrived at San Siro in January 2019 for a fee of around £30m, but the initial excitement around his arrival has quickly faded as the Pole has managed just four goals in 18 appearances this season – and eight in his last 33 games.

Spurs have turned to Piątek on their search for a new striker, with Harry Kane expected to miss months with a hamstring injury, but The Athletic claim that the move is in jeopardy because of Milan's financial demands.

Milan want to recover every penny of the £30m which they paid to sign Piątek, but despite their need to recruit a new striker, Spurs simply do not want to pay that much.

The Polish international's record of just four goals this season certainly could be a reason behind that, but truthfully he is one of many players who have struggled in a bitterly disappointing Milan side this year.

Spurs are one of many sides looking at Piątek, but this deal appears to be dead in the water unless Milan agree to lower their asking price.

Manager José Mourinho has insisted that he is prepared to work with his current squad - despite warning the club that Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min could not replace Kane - but he did add that he would not have a problem if owner Daniel Levy decided to recruit a new striker.

“I didn’t know, of course, that I was going to lose Harry and Moussa [Sissoko] for so long, but I knew that the situation was about trying to get the best out of the players that we have, and that doesn’t change,” said Mourinho.

“If [Levy] arrives with a solution that can help us to face these difficult months that we are going to have ahead of us then so be it. But if we don’t find the right solution the right opportunity then we are going to wait for the next summer to try to make the right decisions for the evolution of the team.”
