As he awaits developments, Redknapp has been scouring Europe for players with the attacking flair to fill any gap left by Modric's departure and is believed to have sounded out Marin.
The 22-year old's agent has indicated that a third party acting on Tottenham's behalf has made contact, in an attempt to set up a deal for the versatile Werder Bremen midfielder, who can operate on the wing or in the middle.
Marin first came to Redknapp's attention last season, with a goal and eye-catching overall performance in Bremen's Champions' League game against Tottenham.

Liverpool have also expressed an interest in the ?7.5million signing from Borussia Moenchengladbach, who still has two years left on his Bremen contract.
But he looks set to dash both Barclays Premier League clubs' hopes after breaking his silence on his future and saying: 'I am aware of interest from England, but I am happy to carry on here. I have given it some thought, and I am clear in my mind that I will be staying at Bremen.'
