Tottenham learn extent of Richarlison hamstring injury

Tottenham are set to be without Richarlison for the next six weeks after he picked up a hamstring injury.

The forward picked up the problem in the warm-up prior to Brazil's World Cup quarter-final loss to Croatia, playing for 84 minutes despite the issue.

Richarlison reported back to Spurs' Hotspur Way training base ahead of schedule to undergo tests on the injury, and Football.London report that results from the scans indicate he will be out for the next five to six weeks.

The injury serves as a bitter blow to Spurs with Harry Kane, who will return to training on Monday following England's World Cup exit, in desperate need of support in terms of goals.

Son Heung-min has scored in just two games for Tottenham in all competitions so far this season, while Dejan Kulusevski netted on the opening day of the season before picking up a hamstring injury of his own. The Sweden winger made his return prior to the World Cup break and grabbed two assists in two Premier League games.

Richarlison is yet to open his account in the Premier League for Tottenham after a goal against Fulham was marginally ruled out for offside, though he scored a match-winning brace days later in their Champions League tie with Marseille.

He is likely to miss next month's north London derby at home to Arsenal, with the Gunners missing their own Brazilian number nine after Gabriel Jesus underwent surgery on a knee injury.
