The 21-year-old right winger who completed his dream move to Spurs a matter of hours before the January transfer window closed, was also named Republic of Ireland Young Player of the Year by the country's top sports writers - all in the same week.
Reid’s debut performance seemed to improve when his compatriot Robbie Keane came on in the 63rd minute. It was the former Nottingham Forest player’s pinpoint cross that allowed Keane to score Tottenham’s third goal against Portsmouth at the weekend.
Keane missed out on receiving the Player of the Year accolade, despite becoming his country’s top scorer of all time in 2004. The award went to Everton midfielder Kevin Kilbane instead.
