With matches against Portsmouth, Birmingham and Newcastle to come at the Lane, Jol warned his men not to take Sunderland lightly, reported The Daily Mirror.
He said: "Everyone knows that a team that doesn't have the points on the board can always make a fresh start. We have to be 100 per cent focused because we did well against the bigger teams but if you lose points elsewhere you could say it's all for nothing. We will try to play in the way we always play at home and hopefully it will be enough."
The Wearsiders took an early lead and then pinned Spurs back to 2-2 after Robbie Keane had put Spurs ahead.
"Their first goal was their first shot on goal - it was an unbelievable free-kick and that can always happen - and their second goal was probably from their third shot. So all credit to them. It's harsh but an opponent can always score two goals. If you play at home and score three goals you want an easy win but we knew before the game that teams like Sunderland would fight for their lives and they were ambitious to create something."
He told The Sunday Times: "In Holland we have a proverb - a cat in a corner can always make strange leaps."
But Jol was pleased with his players for showing the winning mentalilty overall against a resilient Sunderland side.
He added: "It's always hard when you fall behind but we fought back and showed a great mentality."
