There's a Doc-tor in the house
Gary Doherty will return to reserve team action tonight after a difficult two weeks. Doherty was on the bench as the Republic of Ireland were defeated two nil by Switzerland in Basel, a result that ended their Euro 2004 chances. In the days prior to the qualifier, 'The Doc' had been laid low with a blood infection. Doherty will be part of the squad to face Watford at Stevenage Borough's Broadhall Way Stadium tonight and is to be joined by Christian Ziege who continues to move closer to the first team squad, Frechman Stephane Dalmat, Japanese international Kazuyuki Toda and Helder Postiga who scored twice for the Portuguese Under-21's at the weekend. Chris Hughton will take charge as former reserve team boss Colin Calderwood left for the managerial post at Northampton Town a week ago.
