A 0-2 defeat in which Alessandro Del Piero, who has a slight thigh strain and won't play at Highbury tonight, scored twice as Juventus won 2-0 in Turin.
Toon full back Andy Griffin helped by Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon scored the only goal of the return match at St James' Park.
Edgar Davids featured in both games for the Italian club.
The tie came less than a year after Arsenal had lost 1-0 in Italy but beat Juventus 3-1 in London. Freddie Ljungberg, also missing tonight (calf), scored twice that night, the first following a parry by Buffon. Thierry Henry also scored direct from a free kick but Gunners keeper Stuart Taylor scored a very unfortunate own goal.
