Yet, under Martin Jol Tottenham have shown more improvement in the Premiership than Liverpool under Rafael Benitez.
The Dutchman pointed out, "We’ve done better than Liverpool if you compare the progress at the two clubs. Liverpool were still in the top four or five before Benitez arrived and we weren’t (a year ago)."
"Last season we did well at Anfield and were on the fringe of winning there, we were 1-0 up and 2-1 up but they equalised twice.
Meanwhile, both clubs were tested in the FA Cup third round against lower league opponents last weekend.
"Luton attacked them and used all that energy but Liverpool still had the quality to come back and score five goals," Jol added.
Spurs skipper Ledley King is confident Spurs can bounce back after the defeat at Leicester City last Sunday: "The lads are obviously disappointed with the result on Sunday but when we had the disappointment at Grimsby we showed what we are all about and bounced straight back.
