Martin Jol praised Steed Malbranque for deciding to become a Spurs player in the summer.
The midfielder who arrived at White Hart Lane had to wait several weeks for his debut and first goal for the club after a hernia op.
But on his fifth consecutive start, the Frenchman's seventh for Spurs in total, he opened his goalscoring account.
Jol said: Steed wanted to play for Spurs and that was important. He could have gone to a lot of other clubs, but he wanted to play for a club with the style of Spurs."
