Portuguese international Ricardo Rocha has joined Spurs.
The 28-year-old moved to Benfica from SC Braga in 2002. He helped the Portuguese giants to domestic cup glory in 2004 and the Portuguese title the year after.
He also played a key part in Benfica's run to the quarter final stage of the Champions League last season and has played in five Champions League matches this season.
Rocha appeared in two international friendlies against Scotland and Italy in 2002 and 2003 and returned this season, playing in Euro 2008 qualifiers against Finland, Azerbaijan and Poland.
Tottenham's Sporting Director, Damien Comolli, said: "Ricardo has shown a great desire to come to White Hart Lane."
