Huddlestone, 24, has not played since the 5-1 defeat against Manchester City on August 28 after suffering a recurrence of the ankle problem which troubled him throughout last season.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp recently revealed Huddlestone would require a second operation on the injury and the Premier League club confirmed the former Derby player went under the knife on Friday.

He will now have to wait six weeks before visiting a specialist to discover how long he will be out of action.

"Tom Huddlestone has today (Friday) undergone a surgical procedure to his right ankle," a Tottenham statement confirmed.

"The midfielder will be further assessed by the specialist in six weeks' time, after which a time frame for a return to training will be determined."
