Spurs Drop Murphy Interest

Liverpool had accepted an undisclosed offer from Spurs for the England midfielder but after a meeting with the player Spurs have dropped their interest.

"As has been widely reported, the club has been in negotiations with Liverpool regarding Danny Murphy," a statement on Spurs' official website, www.spurs.co.uk, reads

"We have now withdrawn from these negotiations following a meeting with the player.

"We acknowledge that a guaranteed first-team place was a deciding factor in his decision and wish him well."
