Tottenham are expected to try and negotiate a deal to lure Real Madrid and Brazil midfielder Julio Baptista to the Premiership, even though the asking price of £12.85 million is above Spurs valuation of the striker.
It's understood that if all else fails Tottenham will try to bag the player nicknamed The Beast, even though it would make much more sense if they concentrated on bringing another targetman to White Hart Lane, instead of Baptista who is more in the Jermaine Defoe/Robbie Keane mould.
Spurs would prefer to sign Mido for £3 million but his club AS Roma would need to find a replacement and the Serie A club don't seem prepared to go to the trouble.
