Reflecting on Monday’s 3-1 win against Sundowns, coach Martin Jol said: "We can be satisfied with the stamina levels although we didn't look sharp at the end. It was the first game out here for most of the team. We only played two outfield players from the start - Pedro Mendes and Andy Reid - who began against Boca Juniors. As we get a bit fitter I think we have to start keeping the ball a bit more. We had the initiative and lost it towards the end of the game so that was a bit of a disappointment. In the last 15-20 minutes we looked a bit tired.
"Teemu Tainio must have been very tired but I needed him, like I needed Pedro Mendes in the first half. You do what you have to do. The strikers did it again and we always looked dangerous. We scored three good goals and could have scored three more with other chances. The positive thing with going 3-0 up was we could make changes and get Aaron Lennon, Mounir El-Hamdaoui and Dean Marney on.
