Rose eager to bloom in Europe

Rose, who has just returned from ankle and thigh injuries, is expected to be named in Redknapp's starting XI for the game at White Hart Lane. Rose, 21, shot to fame by scoring a 30-yard screamer on debut against Arsenal, but he has since been restricted to a handful of starts due to a lack of form and fitness.

He said: "My ultimate aim is to be in the starting XI on a Saturday. I got in the team for the last four games of last season and did well. I started all right in pre-season and was unlucky to get the injury. The way I train I think I deserve to be in and around it."

Rose spent part of last season on loan at npower Championship side Bristol City - the third loan spell of his career.

After being told by Redknapp that he could develop in to a top-class left back at Tottenham, the England Under-21 international admits he would not consider dropping down a division in January and would only consider leaving the club on a temporary basis to go to a fellow top-flight club.

"If I was going to go out on loan I would want it to be in the Premier League," he said.

"I wouldn't want to go back to the Championship again. I hope I do well in the games I'm involved in to make a Premier League loan move in January if I'm not playing here.

"I'm at the age now where I need to be playing regularly. When I go away with the England Under-21s it's difficult to hear the rest of the guys talking about playing every week.

"It's not the same for me. I don't see it as make or break but I do need to be playing every week."
