Steven Gerrard said: "We are in the results business and know we must find a way of playing that is better than what we have been doing recently but there is no point dwelling on what has gone.
"If I get criticised, I try to prove people wrong. That is what this team has to do. If you don't play well and don't get the right result, you have to accept the criticism. It is not all doom and gloom though because we have all the ingredients to become a successful team in the future. Everyone knows we have fantastic players. What we have to do is prove we can be a good team."
Gerrard can't wait to play alongside Wayne Rooney now the striker has got himself back among the goals at Manchester United.
"I was watching Wayne thinking, you should save that for England," added Gerrard. "He has come into a bit of form of late, which is great news for us because I don't need to tell anyone how good I think Wayne Rooney is. He had a difficult World Cup because he was injured and there was a lot of pressure on him because people expected him to win the tournament on his own.
"But, without doubt, he is one of the best in the world and has a great future. It is great to have him 100 per cent fit because he could win us these two games."
"The right-hand side is my position now. The manager has told me if he does play me on the right, he doesn't expect me to hug the touchline and go past people the way a winger would. He has told me I can have some freedom to get into the box and do what I do for Liverpool which is good enough for me."
