Reserves reflect on dropped points

The reserves have been guilty of switching off after putting in first half performances worthy of maintaining the Premier League South crown.

Kieran McKenna said: "We put so much into the first half performance (against West Ham) and it was top drawer, but maybe we eased off a little bit and let them back in it, but I never thought we were in danger of losing the advantage.

"It was a relief to see the third goal go in and we started to think we were safe after losing a 2-0 lead last time (against Arsenal)."

"In the last two games the first half displays have been as good as anything since I've been in the reserves. Training has been top notch and we have produced it on the pitch. There has been some really good attacking football."

"It was hard because I missed most of the pre-season (with an ankle injury) and coming back into the Arsenal game was a big step for me. I was delighted and a little bit surprised to make it through the 90 minutes, but I have felt myself getting stronger and fitter."

Development coach Clive Allen said: "In all the tests that we've done he was one of highest and he has put that into his game. So in terms of recovery from injury, it was always going to be the least of his problems.

"In certain areas he was a little bit rusty from not having played but he has put energy and enthusiasm into the two games he has played after coming back from a lay-off.

"His shot towards the end of the (West Ham) game showed how he wanted to join in and get forward and he always looked to get into areas to score goals."

Allen on Tottenham's summer signing Dorian Dervite and fellow centre back Charlie Lee, said: "His performance against West Ham was a very good start.

"I have to say that Charlie, over the last two games, has been outstanding. I think he has led by example and his range of pass and commitment to doing things right has been very evident in the two games. I was delighted with his performances."
