Spurs boss Harry Redknapp admitted his disappointment after failing to sign Bolton defender Gary Cahill before the transfer deadline.
Cahill emerged as one of Redknapp's top targets earlier this week and he was hoping to bring him to White Hart Lane after chief transfer rivals Arsenal switched their sights to German defender Per Mertesacker.
But Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was unable to agree a fee with his opposite number at Bolton and the deal collapsed, leading to Spurs centre-back Sebastien Bassong's proposed move to Queens Park Rangers also falling through.Asked whether the Cahill transfer fell through because of the valuation, Redknapp said: "Yeah, more or less. That was the problem and in the end the deal was just a bit too difficult to do. We would have liked him. "[QPR manager Neil Warnock] was looking to sign Seb on a loan deal or a semi-permanent deal almost but once Gary Cahill fell through we couldn't let him go."
