Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves is reportedly wanted by Spurs boss Harry Redknapp on a short-term deal.
Hargreaves is available on a free transfer after being released at Old Trafford at the start of the summer having been plagued by a series of knee injuries over the last three years. But the 30-year-old is now fully fit and Redknapp is said to be ready to offer the former Bayern Munich star a short-term contract at White Hart Lane to bolster his squad for this season.
West Brom have been in talks with Hargreaves for most of the summer while he rejected a move to Championship side Leicester last month. Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish is also said to be interested but Tottenham are understood to be favourites to clinch his signature and take a risk on his fitness as Redknapp considers new midfield options with Wilson Palacios close to sealing a move to Stoke and Luka Modric still keen on a switch across London to Chelsea.
