Whispers coming out of the club suggest the Uruguayan international, who still has one year of his contract to run at Spurs, could be paid up and follow club captain Teddy Sheringham out of White Hart Lane as manager Glenn Hoddle looks to bring in younger players to his squad for next season.
"I still have one more year to go and want to carry on playing here," Poyet told the London Evening Standard.
"I will then probably retire at the end of next season. No-one from the club has spoken to me about my situation but if they want to make me an offer to buy the rest of my contract, then that is up to them."
