Potential replacements for Carlos Vinicius at Tottenham Hotspur

Unless you're Harry Kane, being a striker at Tottenham Hotspur is pretty thankless work.

Playing second fiddle to one of the greatest Premier League strikers in history is not an easy task, as Carlos Vinicius has discovered this season. The Brazilian hasn't done too badly for Spurs, but his 10 goals and three assists in 22 appearances across all competitions haven't exactly lit up north London.

As a result, it looks as though the club will opt against making the striker's loan from Benfica a permanent deal. So, if Kane decides to stay put and Vinicius heads back to Portugal, who could come in to fill the void?

1. Dusan Vlahovic - Fiorentina

Dusan Vlahovic has been one of the stand-out players in recent months in Italy.

Fiorentina may be languishing in 14th, just four points off the drop zone as things stand, but they have one of the most exciting prospects across Europe banging in the goals for them.

21-year old Serbian international Vlahovic has notched 19 goals in the league this campaign and has attracted a lot of interest from Europe's top teams. Due to this, he may be a difficult man to sign this summer.

2. Danny Ings - Southampton

We all know that Danny Ings can score goals. The Southampton striker notched one against Spurs recently to take his tally up to 32 in the Premier League since the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

Ings has previously been linked with Tottenham and, while he may not have been the ideal fit under Jose Mourinho, a new system could see him thrive at the club - should opportunities allow.

Would he give up being main man at St. Mary's for a shot at the big-time with Spurs? Well, maybe.

3. Andrea Belotti - Torino

Andrea Belotti is another man who has been linked with Tottenham over years.

The Italian has notched 12 goals and an impressive seven assists in Serie A this campaign and, while he isn't quite as prolific as others in the division, he brings a creative edge which sets him apart - something that Kane brings too.

The 27-year old is, however, very committed to Torino having snubbed reported interest from Manchester United in the past. The striker is captain of the Italian side, and may not be too willing to relinquish his cult hero status just yet.

4. Alexander Sorloth - RB Leipzig

It wasn't an enjoyable spell at Crystal Palace for Alexander Sorloth. His one goal in 20 appearances should have been enough to put his career in the gutter but the Norwegian has turned things around - to some extent.

The striker has spent this season at RB Leipzig where Julian Nagelsmann has built a Bundesliga-challenging machine.

While Sorloth can only boast seven goal contributions in 28 league games this campaign, it's what he brings in the side's fascinatingly dynamic system which makes him an intriguing prospect.

His pressing, movement and link-up play can make him useful to any side, but will a Premier League club come knocking at his door after his time at Selhurst Park? Well, you'd think not.

5. Habib Diallo - Strasbourg

Habib Diallo was linked with Spurs in the summer, after being shot into the limelight in France after a 26-goal Ligue 2 season was followed by a 12-goal Ligue 1 season last time out for Metz.

Instead of a move to London, though, the Senegal international joined Strasbourg, where he has continued a steady scoring rate this campaign.

The striker has eight goals and three assists in 29 league matches for Les Coureurs but hasn't done enough to pull them away from a relegation scrap.

Punts on players from Ligue 1 are proven to work in some cases, but should Spurs risk signing another lacklustre Kane back-up? Probably not.
