Personal hell for Spurs skipper

Ledley King had just about the worst summer for a footballer imaginable.

The Spurs and England defender said: "It's probably been the toughest part of my footballing career so far.''

"Missing the end of the season for Tottenham was tough. Being captain and not being able to be out there to help the boys for the last push was tough to take.

"Then missing out on the World Cup was another big blow. But I remained strong in my head.

``I was looking forward to the start of the season when I picked up another injury.

``That was probably the lowest of the lows. But I managed to bounce back pretty quick from the operation.''
