However, the in-form Spurs striker, who was substituted with an injury 36 minutes into the 2-1 league win at Stoke on Saturday, is hoping to have recovered in time for Spurs' game against Portsmouth at the weekend.
"At first there was suspicion of a tear and I was terribly upset because I've just started to play and could be out for a couple of weeks," said Pavlyuchenko.
"But on Sunday I visited specialists, fearing the worst, but thank God this was not confirmed.
"In fact, I had a muscle spasm, after which you just have to rest for two or three days to avoid anything worse.
"The club doctor confirmed that if everything is normal I will return to training on Tuesday.
"I will miss the FA Cup game on Wednesday, but I should be ready for Portsmouth."
