Tottenham have confirmed Oliver Skipp has signed a new five-year contract with the club.
The midfielder broke into Spurs' starting XI earlier this season and has been one of their strongest performers, though a persistent injury has ruled him out of action since January.
Skipp's contract will run until 2027, becoming the latest player in north London to sign extended terms. Son Heung-min recently committed his future to the club, while Hugo Lloris also signed a new deal.
"You'd never have thought that young boy walking through at six or seven, and signing at Under-9s, you'd get to this stage," Skipp said upon signing his new contract. "I'm delighted to sign this new deal.
"It's something that I'm very grateful for. It means a lot when you've grown up at the club, when your whole family supports the club."
In Skipp's absence, January signing Rodrigo Bentancur has been paired with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in central midfield as Spurs target a top four finish. However, once fit it is expected Skipp will take the Dane's place in the starting XI, having become a favourite of manager Antonio Conte during the Italian's early months of the club.
Conte has been publicly frustrated by Skipp's injury, putting pressure on the club's medical department to get him fully fit for Tottenham's run-in.
The 21-year-old, who joined Tottenham at the age of five, spent last season on loan at Norwich and played a vital role in their promotion to the Premier League with his composure in midfield.
