Head coach Martin Jol told the Daily Mail: "Teams like Liverpool have a different philosophy from us - they have to deliver from day one.
Spurs who have lost only once at White Hart Lane this season, including a goalless draw against Liverpool, eventually cruised past the Blues of Merseyside on Saturday.
The game marked the return of Michael Carrick to the anchor role in midfield after an ankle injury caused the 24-year-old to miss two games for club and country.
Mido broke the deadlock against the Premiership’s bottom side in the second half. The 22-year-old is expected to sign permanently for Spurs by the time his current loan arrangement expires in the summer.
He told Egyptianplayers.com: "Tottenham want to sign me permanently - Martin Jol is willing to make an offer to Roma.
"I can sign permanently for Spurs as I have a clause on my loan contract which gives Tottenham the right to sign me on a permanent basis for a fee worth £4.5million."
18-year-old winger Aaron Lennon made his fifth start for the club, so there was no place even on the bench for either Teemu Tainio, signed on a free transfer from Auxerre or Pedro Mendes.
Jol told The Independent: "In one or two years time he can be a big player like (Shaun) Wright-Phillips."
"Everybody could have bought Lennon, but we took the chance.
"The English game needs youngsters to be given the chance and they need to be given games. Everyone could have bought Carrick last season, but we took the chance and it’s paying off for us," added Jol in the Mail.
