The Spurs midfielder was body checked in the penalty box by Everton defender Tony Hibbert which led to a stoppage-time spot-kick which Jermain Defoe missed in what ended as a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park.
"They have taken him to hospital and he is in a lot of pain," Spurs boss Harry Redknapp told Sky Sports.
"He is a tough lad so it can't be very good for him to be struggling like he is.
"Hopefully he will be okay."
