Gomes, who lives in Chigwell, Essex, says he and his teammates have been left shocked by the events of the last week. He also said Tottenham officials had told them not to leave their homes until the situation calmed down.

The Brazilian goalkeeper, 30, said: 'There's fear in the squad. We've spoken in the dressing room and the club have told us to stay home and avoid the streets.
'My home is in Chigwell, about 20 minutes from the centre of the riots and that's a danger. This happens in Brazil but we never believed it would be possible in England. We're watching the situation all day.'
