Tottenham Hotspur are likely to wear a minimalist white home shirt in 2021/22, with images of the club’s expected new jersey leaked online in recent days.
The 2021/22 shirt, still made by Nike and featuring AIA as the primary sponsor, will differ from this season’s kit by stripping away all trim colours.
Instead, Footy Headlines has revealed that the shirt will be fully white, with the design focusing on subtle patterns instead and featuring no other trim or accent colours beyond basic branding. The jersey will have a V-neck and white cuffs. The inside of the neck also includes a copy of one of the club’s earliest badges as a nod to history. The design also gives it a kind of textured look, while the side panels will feature a floral pattern.
It is expected that Spurs will complete the traditional look with navy blue shorts and navy blue socks. Home socks have typically been white for most of the last 60 years, aside from a handful of kits in the 1990s and early 2000s, as well as those in 2013/14 and 2016/17.
But the plain white shirt with navy blue socks is a throwback look to the kind of kits that Spurs wore from the end of the 19th century all the way up to the mid-1960s.
Spurs will be hoping that the end of this season finishes on a high. A blip from late December to late February threatened to completely derail what was on course to be a very promising season, but they have rediscovered their form in recent weeks, are doing well in the Europa League and have the Carabao Cup final to look forward to at Wembley in late April.
Spurs last won major silverware in 2008 when they beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final and serial trophy winner Jose Mourinho was brought in to try and end that drought.
