The Spurs defender was named in the starting XI for England's opening group game against USA at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg on Saturday evening but was substituted at half time having sustained a groin injury.
Reports now suggest that, because of the injury, King may miss the remainder of the tournament in South Africa.
