Keller dislodged Neil Sullivan to become an ever present in Tottenham's first team for the last two seasons before Paul Robinson's arrival from Leeds United last summer. The American hasn't appeared in a Premiership game for Spurs this season but enjoyed a brief spell at Southampton as cover for the injured Saints first choice keeper Antti Niemi.
Meanwhile, Ian Walker could be about to make a dramatic return to White Hart Lane. With over 300 appearances for Spurs following his debut at 19, he would be a suitable replacement for Keller as Tottenham’s second choice stopper.
The 33-year-old former England international is understood to be considering a switch from Leicester City, the club he signed for in a £2.5m move away from Tottenham in 2001.
Walker had missed only two matches in three and a half seasons at Leicester, before injuring his knee four months ago. Now he has lost his place to 24-year-old Stuart Taylor, on loan from Arsenal, and the Foxes also have veteran Kevin Pressman as adequate cover.
Walker completed 70 minutes of his first appearance since recovering from the injury in a FA Premier League Reserve game this week.
"He simply did what he had to do on the night. He was both confident and competent," said Leicester City reserve team coach Peter Houston.
