Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has again stressed his frustration towards the Premier League's decision to postpone his side's meeting with Fulham on Wednesday.
Fulham were hit with a handful of positive COVID-19 tests in the build-up to the game, but the Premier League waited until three hours before the match before officially postponing the encounter.
The delay prompted an outstandingly bitter Instagram post from Mourinho, who joked about how the 'best league in the world' could be so unorganised, and he continued to voice his confusion towards the decision in a press conference on Friday."I don't want to speak too much about it," he said (via football.london). "Just to say that I felt [it was] unprofessional but that's the way it is or that's the way it was.
"Of course [it was disruptive], we were preparing ourselves for that match and of course we didn't play and that is disruptive of what is a week of work. The training sessions before that of course they would be different if we were going to play that game.
"So people can think good for you because you didn't play, good for me if I didn't play – and I know that I don't play because then I could have a different cycle in the training sessions. But not to play and not to train like we would like in the days before of course doesn't help."
It was the third game the Premier League have been forced to cancel this season and the second in quick succession following the decision to postpone Manchester City's meeting with Everton, prompting calls from some to suspend the entire competition once again.
Mourinho was asked whether he felt the Premier League should continue to go on, but the Spurs boss was quick to point out that it is not up to him.
"We are in a position where I don't believe opinions matter," he added. "For sure, for sure my opinion doesn't matter at all. I think you feel since the beginning of everything that I was always in favour of playing, I was always in favour of making all the possible sacrifices to play.
"But when we arrive into a situation that for me is very, very doubtful I prefer not to speak and just to be ready, to be ready. And thinking that tomorrow we're going to play."
