According to the Daily Mirror, the Dutchman is convinced Spurs can claim at least a place in the UEFA Cup next season, after Paul Robinson helped earn Tottenham a point on Sunday.
Jol told The Sun newspaper: "He’s pulling out performances like that for us once in a while. If you want to be the # 1 for your club and your country, then you have to come up with great games. But our progress this season is not only down to Paul. We have to be scoring goals, too. Jermaine Jenas scored like he scored against Manchester United and that is what we need."
He added: "I think it's fair to say that we weren't known for our goalscoring record outside the strikers. It's a big plus that Michael Carrick, Edgar Davids and Jermaine have all scored. Ledley King also has three goals now. If you don't score from other areas you won't achieve anything.
"Our target now is to keep winning and get into Europe. It is the sixth time this season we have come back from behind. We wanted all three points against Middlesbrough but have to be content with one. There was great entertainment for the crowd but it wasn’t so entertaining for me.
"In hindsight you can say we did well but if you concede goals without having a lot of pressure you have to say our defending wasn't good enough. If you are leading in an away game you should defend better so hopefully we'll learn from that. To concede three goals is very uncharacteristic for us.
