"We have missed him because for the last three away games we are without a win," he said.
Jol also spoke for the first time about the row between Mido and the Egypt coach Hassan Shehata that resulted in the forward missing the final of the African Cup of Nations.
The Tottenham coach supported the decision to haul Mido off in the closing stages of Egypt’s semi-final on the grounds that his replacement went on to score the winning goal.
Mido, who returned from a groin injury to play in the semi, also receieved the backing of Jol, despite the temperament that he showed in front of a packed Cairo stadium.
"Frustration was the thing with Mido as he had to play for Egypt even though he was carrying an injury. But he was thinking he could score a goal so of course he wanted to play on to the finish."
