Jol sees red after Dawson's early exit

Drawing comparisons to a lesson Tottenham striker Mido needed to observe earlier in the season, Jol pinpointed the inconsistencies in Premiership refereeing. He felt Fulham strikers Brian McBride and Heidar Helguson were more at fault in the incidents leading to Dawson receiving the second dismissal of his career.

Webb issued only one card to players on the home side (Helguson) while the Yorkshireman dished out four bookings overall among the Tottenham players.

Jol said: "He was backing into Dawson for the 40th time so what was he supposed to do? Boa Morte also gave my assistant Chris Hughton some bad air, but he did not spit."

"The ref was very influential. We had Mido sent off against Chelsea for doing the same. It was like a South American atmosphere with people trying to get players booked."
