With the news of Ronald Koeman’s Ajax resignation spilling around White Hart Lane ahead of their home game against Fulham on Saturday which Spurs won 2-0, Martin Jol dimissed reports culminating from Amsterdam that he would return to his homeland as successor to Koeman. "Every time a big club in Holland loses a manager they are linked with my name. It's not a big issue. My future is at Spurs - I'm satisfied here."
"You never know - I might get sacked in two weeks' time and I would have to change my mind. But seriously, the whole question of joining Ajax is hypothetical and I don't want to talk about it," said Jol.
A spokesman for Ajax, whose elimination from the UEFA Cup last week led to Koeman’s resignation, said: "We have had talks about the situation but we have not made a decision. Our discussions will continue on Monday and Tuesday."
Meanwhile, Spurs beat a side from the capital for the first time in ten attempts at the weekend.
Tottenham overcame their poor record in London duals, particularly against Fulham who had won four of the past five meetings between the clubs. The win moved Spurs to eighth spot, only four points behind Liverpool in fifth.
"This was a big win for us. We needed the points because our aim is still the top eight.
"This is a big club and we want to live up to people's expectations.
"I would be satisfied if we achieved something in the FA Cup, or playing for European football. Maybe not achieve it, but playing for that until the last game of the season, that would be the dream for me," added Jol.
Spurs go to Nottingham Forest for their FA Cup fifth round replay on Wednesday.
