Davis who signed for Portsmouth with Pedro Mendes and Noe Pamarot claimed he could count the number of times Jol spoke to him on one hand: "The last three or four months have been a bit of a nightmare. I was training with the reserves and not getting anywhere near the team. I did not appeal to the manager but I don’t know why, you will have to ask him. The last one-and-a-half years have not been the best for me. Mendes added: "The last two months have not been good. My main motivation was the transfer window. That is all that kept me going."
