Huddlestone signed a ?5.25million deal with Hull in the summer after being shown the door by then Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas, who had used him increasingly sparingly during his time at the club.
Huddlestone was shocked to see Villas-Boas sacked last month but believes Sherwood, who was promoted from the youth set-up to take the reins, can recreate the style of attacking football that characterised Harry Redknapp's tenure - and some of his own finest days in North London.
"I was surprised (by Villas-Boas' sacking) because they weren't that far away from the top four, where they want to be," Huddlestone said.
"But Tim has come in having worked with the under-21 side, who have cleaned up recently.
"He is not shy in giving them the chances, as you have seen over the last few games, and he's got some massive results so far.
"I think Tim is probably playing a more exciting style of football - maybe more like Redknapp did - than AVB did, which suits the players they've got.
"I do know Tim fairly well and I like the way he is. He is straightforward.
"If somebody needs telling off or whatever he won't be afraid to do it. With the squad he has got there he is an ideal fit."
