Sherwood, now at Portsmouth, told the sun newspaper that he thought Hoddle should be replaced as Spurs manager and if he was "no one would shed a single tear if he left the club tomorrow'.
However, Hoddle has hit back on this scathing attack by telling the clubs official website: "'All I will say is that it's strange that nine months ago he was desperate to stay at this club. If he felt things were so bad with it, why would he want to stay? "
"I was honest to let him know that we wouldn't extend his contract and as soon as that happened, his tune changed. He's had an axe to grind since then"
"He was also out for seven months with a knee injury from pre-season right through until Christmas.
"Those are the facts, end of story. There is a lot more that I could say but as a manager, I won't lower myself to that level."
