"It was very harsh," said Hoddle. "I have since spoken to Scott Parker and he said he didn't touch him.
"There was no contact at all in my opinion but that is the referee's decision and we will wait and see what happens."
The only way Ziege can escape a three-match ban, however, is if official D'Urso chooses to review his decision.
"Christian is distraught for it to happen twice in a week, it is not as though he is going over the top of tackles," said Hoddle. "Yet it is still two sendings-off.
"A lot of managers have been saying for a long time that we need a change which is so easy to be made.
"Why not play the rugby rule so the referee can consult his linesman? Today the linesman had a fantastic view of it and referees need to take their time.
"We are asking for split-second decisions and from that level it is difficult to make decisions so consulting would allow him an extra 10 seconds thinking time."
